Weekend DJ Course - Pt 1

Course Summary

If you are new to DJ' ing but you have always wanted to learn to mix, then this is the course for you. You will spend a weekend at Point Blank's DJ Academy learning to mix alongside a pro DJ. Classes are taught in small groups and every student has their own DJ workstation, so you get plenty of hands on experience using professional DJ equipment. We've been training DJ's for over 15 years and won six consecutive awards from DJ Magazine. Learn to mix with the original and best DJ School. All music styles are welcome.

  • Equipment & functions

  • Introduction to Pioneer CDJs
  • Leads and connections

 

Beats, Bars and Phrasing

  • Tempo and BPM (beats per minute)
  • Structure: beats, bars and phrases
  • Finding the first beat of the bar
  • Cueing a track: faders and pre fadecontrols

 

Drop Mixing

  • Switching between styles and tempos
  • Matching levels
  • Cueing
  • Crossfading

Know Your Music

  • Reading vinyl grooves
  • Spotting tunes that work together
  • Reading the crowd
  • Structuring a mix

 

Beat matching

  • Adjusting speedusing pitch controls
  • Manually adjust the speed of therecord/cd player
  • Pitch shifting
  • Crossfading smoothly

 

Effects

  • Basic DJ FX
  • Echo, flanger
  • Transform
