DJ Course: Crash

Overview	For the DJ courses, Point Blank provides an alternative two day weekend Crash Course for those who cannot dedicate enough time to enrol on the longer courses. Free book and CD-Rom with this course. Covers pretty much everything from the month long DJ course in a more intense teaching style. The length of the course dictates students cannot take advantage of the open door practice policy enjoyed by students on the longer course and due to time constraints students cannot record a mix CD.
Set up	The equipment you need, turntable and mixer set up, connections, troubleshooting and tips.
Beats, bars and phrasing	Understand how tunes are structured and learn counting methods to help choose the right area for mixing.
Drop mixing	The skill needed to mix one record into another. Includes record manipulation, mixing different styles of music, using hook lines.
Beat matching	How to keep two records playing in time together. Includes speeding up/slowing down techniques by hand, using the pitch adjustment fader, recognising different sounds on each record, where to mix in and out of the record.
Sound and levels	Get to grips with EQ, monitoring, headphone levels, panning, and level matching.
Tricks	Learn EQ tricks and fills, line/phono switch tricks, how to read the grooves on your records.
Scratching	Basic introduction to the art of scratching.
CD mixing	A comprehensive introduction to a very contemporary skill.
Promotion	How to contact and deal with useful organisations and clubs, how put on your own night, sound systems, publicity and PR.
