So you've planned an event in the previous module - now you make it happen! With Point Blank's industry links this gig could end up at 93 Ft East, the Barfly or another top London venue. Being on stage and performing to an audience is what it is all about for many musicians. Even if you are not in a performing role, live events are where you can pull the strings from behind the scenes or have your material performed by others. The commercial importance of a successful live performance cannot be underestimated especially in the current climate with the emphasis less on record sales and more on concert revenue. Gigs need to be targeted at a specific audience and marketed in an appropriate way. If gigs dont go well, promoters and record companies can withdraw their support.
Bringing it All Together
This module explores live performance, an essential part of any successful professional musician. The Music Performance Project is the culmination of the skills and knowledge gained through all the practical work carried out in performance related modules. For learners who are composers, their compositions will also be performed as part of the event.
Put On An Event!
Students will create and promote a substantial live music event. This may include the development of original material if any members of the group wish to access this module through composition.
Financial Planning
Students will present a coherent budgeted proposal which will be considered by the Point Blank Finance Manager. The best idea will be realised into an event.
Legal Requirements
You will have to demonstrate a working knowledge of the legal requirements involved in putting on a live music event at a venue such as Barfly, 93 Feet East or other Point Blank partner venues.
