Debut release from PB student gets rave reviews

goldix.jpgHow do you know when you’ve got a chill-out classic on your hands? Well those of you that prefer the sofa to the dancefloor should maybe ask former music production course student Dom Goldberg. His debut release on his own label has certainly got all the right people nodding their heads. Inspired by his Music Production course, Dom got together with his friend Peter Felix and decided to go down the DIY route –pressing up a limited run of 12”s and sending out promos to the biggest names on the scene. The result? Stunning reviews in DJ and IDJ magazines, radio play from the likes of Patrick Forge on Kiss and Chris Coco and Gilles Peterson on Radio One and a limited edition single that’s flying out of the shops faster than you can say “Record of the week”.

Check out what they had to say below and then click here to order your copy. Beware though they're selling fast...

Rosie Kendrick - Smooth FM
"Going down a storm with my audience"

Smallfish Records London
"An absolutely lovely 12" here that must rank amongst the most friendly and approachable music ever sold in this shop. Mellow beats with quirky speeded-up crooning vocals (there's a lush instrumental if you'd rather) that remind one of Mr Scruff, Bent or Lemon Jelly at their very peak a few years ago.
File under: Easy-tronica. Niiiiiiiice”

Piccadilly – Record of the Week in Leftfield section
For their first release the Goldlix label bring us this luscious slice of dreamy downbeat loveliness that's sure to iron out the tension in your body and send you off on a mellow sofa session. Featuring swelling strings, floating Rhodes keys and a simple head nodding beat this is a perfect musical accompaniment to lazy days. Side a comes with an infuriatingly catchy chipmunk style vocal while the flip is totally instrumental. Support from the likes of Rosie Kendrick (Jazz FM), Bill Brewster and Spiritual South.

"Not much is known about this mysterious english outfit. The music speaks for itself though. Lush orchestrations, broken down beats and a sped-up a-la Kanye West vocal sample are the building bricks for "Atol Moao". Think dj Shadow or a more relaxed version of the Avalanches and you're there."

Rough Trade
"crackin' little nugget this one. remember back in the day when portishead, red snapper and ninja tune were all the rage?....well this goes back to then with it's soulful drums and equally soulful vocal speeded up in a kanye west style. a wonderful winter chiller."

Juno
“Lovely tune” – David Rowe

Nick Luscombe
“Superb”

DJ Mag issue 407 (3/5)
Before the whole downbeat thing was hijacked by the pill popping comedown kids and reconstituted into the joyless, cash cow that is Chillout, cheeky chaps like DJ Food, Mr Scruff and 9Lazy9 were busy turning out little summery treats like this. 80 BPMs, Rhodes, slide guitars, dreamy vocals. Oh the memories!
