Live Sound Engineering Course Gig!

Students on the Live Sound Engineering Course put on a great show last night at London's famous Barfly venue in Camden. Every term, Point Blank students mix three live gig nights as part of their coursework, overseen by Point Blank/Barfly professionals. Last night there was a crackling atmosphere and the line up didn't disappoint. The opening act was Electric Assembly, a post-rock four piece featuring David McHugh on lead guitar and vocals. Asked about playing at the Barfly David said:

"It's a venue we'd always wanted to play in and that was a decent crowd! The students did a fine job on the sound as well".

Next up was hot former Point Blank music production course student Dana Jade (pictured) with her power rock trio featuring Dana on guitar and vocals. Dana put on a sexy, sullen performance, the band rocked and the crowd was well into it.

The Blisters then took the stage with an unusual line up including a French horn, ukulele and acoustic guitars. These guys are on the verge of being signed to a major label and Live Sound students David Dale and Alan Sherif did outstanding work on the mix under pressure. They jointly win the ‘Student of the Night' award.

The night closed out with Plan 9, a Darkness-influenced glam act which had everyone's full attention(!) from start to finish as they peacocked around the stage in time-honoured rock out fashion.

If you'd like to play at a Point Blank gig night at Barfly, send in your demo and a cover letter to David Reid, Point Blank, 23-28 Penn St, London N1 5DL.
