New Sound to Picture Brief!
Hot on the heels of Point Blank student Jake Warren's big success in securing the soundtrack for the new Swatch campaign on MTV, a fresh brief has arrived at Point Blank, this time looking for the soundtrack for a new advert (to be named at a later stage). Again, we're sorry but this opportunity is open to Point Blank students only.If you are interested in pitching your music, please read the following brief and submit your track as an MP3 to david@pointblanklondon.com.
SOUNDTRACK BRIEF
The film follows a beautiful woman as she walks down the street - every man that sees her falls in love and as they sigh with contentment a paper heart drifts out of their mouths and follows her down the street. The collection of hearts grows and grows until hundreds of them follow her in a cloud of red and pink. She walks into her office and a wave of hearts flies past her and sticks to every surface of her office, covering it in paper. The last shot sees male colleague stagger away from her office covered head to toe in paper hearts.
The two key visual elements to mirror in the music are
a) our heavenly vision of a girl walking (there is always movement in the frame - either her, the camera or the hearts)
b) Men falling in love one after another
The music needs to be uplifting, dreamy & love struck but rhythm lead enough so that it matches her constant walking & energy. We also need it to build from the start - maybe start with only one or two instruments or just a beat - growing as the number of hearts increases. 15 seconds in is a good point in the cut to kick fully in with the music.
A clean ending would be stronger than a fade.
Tracks we've been cutting to for tone are:
"Shape of my Heart" Noah & the Whale (the bridge & first chorus)
"Sh-boom" Crew Cuts (first verse & final chords)
"Be My Baby" Ronettes (Drum intro & chorus)
(Music length required 29sec)
End of Brief
You've got till December 5th to get your tracks in. Be the next Point Blank student success story. Good luck!
